Courthouse Centennial Celebration

Plans have been announced to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Carroll County Western District Courthouse.

The July 3rd Centennial Celebration includes a Proclamation Ceremony and Rededication.

An open house will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the courthouse, complete with speechifying, Victorian-clad ladies and gentlemen, and the cutting of the centennial cake cutting, shaped like the courthouse.

Mayor Dani Joy and County Judge Richard Williams will address the attendees, as will former Eureka Springs mayor Claude Fuller (as portrayed by Dan Bennett.) Fuller is credited with being largely responsible for the construction of the courthouse here.

Ladies clad in period costumes will serve punch and cookies all day on the second floor, with ambience provided by violinist Don Matt.

Official ceremonies begin at 3 p.m., followed by the cake-cutting.
A photo montage of W.O. Perkins, the courthouse builder, will be displayed on the second floor near the jury room. It will include photos of the Tower’s reconstruction in 2000.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.
