Com3: Organizing to Defeat the Referendum on the DP Registry

Com3 is organizing efforts to defeat the referendum on the Domestic Partnership Registry. Com3 is a project undertaken by Marie Howard, Trella Laughlin and Barbara Lightner.

A later note: we successfully registered folks at the Registry celebration. Thanks to J.D. and Cathy Harris for hosting the get-together. Click here for pix of the celebration

Com3 will have tables at the June 23rd celebration at the Art Colony at 7 pm. The Art Colony is located on Hwy 23 North. If you’re coming into town from Hwy 62, turn on Hwy23 down Planer hill, and then keep right at the Y downtown. You’ll be on Hwy 23.

There will be sign-up sheets once you get there. Plans are to set up:

  • A Voter Registration Drive
  • Rides to the polls
  • Babysitting and elder care so people can get out to vote
  • A campaign to write letters to the editor
  • Phone calls to people you know and/or from lists of progressives in ES
  • A door-to-door campaign to hang out door hangers
  • A donations bucket to help offset the costs of the campaign
  • Whatever else you can think of that you would like to do to help the effort.

If you can’t get there but would like to help– or would just plain like more information– you can also email one of the Com3 folks. That’d be Marie and Trella at eurekalaughs@earthlink.net or Barbara at esfolk@gmail.com

Here’s a picture of the Rainbow Victory flag at the window outside Council. Once the Council voted the Registry in, the flag waved, and the crowd waiting below knew immediately of the success of the vote.

Let’s keep the flag waving. Come to the June 23 Celebration.
